“A dozen roses are always the beginning of a love story or the end of a tragedy.” I hope this is the romantic part 2021

Ink, Resin, Glass, Grout, Oil, Acrylic, Watercolor, Sand and Gel on Wood

Calderon’s foray into sculpture began in 2019. With a passion for bringing her creative ideas to life she often found herself using her own hands to get things done. Her continuous exploration of ideas and philosophy along with her abstract use of materials has allowed her to continually shape her story.

Moved by the idea of a ‘sense of life’ Calderon felt that in order to truly align her art with her values she must do so without limiting her desire for growth. Intrigued by the precise engineering process to create the simple and complex shape of a pyramid with each layer intentionally manipulated. It is her desire that the viewer knows that within every subtle detail you will find nothing random, that it is exactly as she intended. And as Calderon simply puts it, “We are all capable of growing our own flowers.”
